Steve Griffin is a Professional Engineer with over thirty years of experience in the application, design, development and management of commercial and residential heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and construction methods. A graduate of the University of Florida with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Steve is practiced at working with engineers on design, system efficiency and cost analysis of projects. He has extensively designed and commissioning geothermal HVAC systems, with a special emphasis on the open-loop systems.
In addition, Steve is an expert building forensic investigator using his vast experience with air conditioning systems along with building construction defects to detect and resolve moisture problems in buildings. He has assisted building owners, attorneys, and insurance companies, providing expert reports on complicated problems. A huge advocate of energy efficiency, Steve strives to incorporate creative energy saving features in all his projects, new or retrofit. He is a Florida Registered Professional Engineer (FL #36800), Certified Geo-Exchange Designer (CGD), Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC), Certified Mold Remediator (CMR), a State-licensed Mold Assessor and a LEED AP.
In addition, he is a member of ASHRAE (the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating & Air-Conditioning Engineers, Inc.,) IAQA (the Indoor Air Quality Association, Inc.,) IGSHPA (the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association) and the Florida Engineering Society. He founded Indoor Environmental Solutions in 2001, after professional tenures with W.W. Gay Mechanical Contractors, Siebe Environmental Controls, Inc. and The Trane Company.
